ABOUT ME…

Kirsty from Hounds Of Blaxtonville

Hi, I’m Kirsty — a lifelong dog lover with over 20 years of hands-on experience. I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by dogs, and they have always been an important part of my life. Over the years, I have walked and cared for dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments, including Spaniels, Border Collies, German Shepherds, Cockapoos, Golden Retrievers, Romanian rescues, and Chihuahuas. I currently share my life with three dogs: a pair of very energetic Belgian Malinois and a Malinois–German Shepherd cross. You will often see me out and about in Blaxton or Finningley with them, as I love being outdoors and enjoy meeting other dogs and their humans.

My passion for dogs goes far beyond daily care. I hold a Level 5 Diploma for Canine Behaviour Practitioners, where I studied canine communication, stress signals, behaviour modification techniques, and how to support dogs with complex needs such as anxiety, reactivity, or trauma. I also hold a Level 3 Diploma in Canine Care, Behaviour & Welfare, along with certification in Canine First Aid.

I’m a long-term volunteer at a local dog rescue centre, where I support a wide variety of dogs — including nervous newcomers, long-term residents, and those working through behavioural challenges. My role includes providing enrichment, exercise, play, and building trust with dogs who may have never known a safe home. These experiences have shown me how to support dogs at their own pace, helping them feel more secure, confident, and understood.

For your peace of mind, I hold full public liability insurance and am DBS checked — so you can feel completely confident that your dog is in safe, caring, and professional hands.

How My Qualifications & Experience Benefit You & Your Dog

As a qualified canine behaviour specialist, I bring more than just a love of dogs to my work — I bring knowledge in how dogs think, feel, and communicate. With my behavioural training, I can:

  • Recognise and respond to subtle signs of stress, discomfort, or excitement, helping to prevent conflicts and ensure your dog feels safe and confident on every walk.

  • Support anxious or reactive dogs with patience and understanding. If your dog struggles with anxiety, reactivity, or past trauma, I can provide calm, structured walks that support behavioural progress.

  • Create mentally stimulating walks that go beyond basic exercise

  • Adapt to your dog’s emotional state each day — no one-size-fits-all approach.

  • Provide helpful feedback, based on your dog’s behaviour and progress.

Every walk is designed to be a positive, rewarding experience for your dog — helping them feel understood, fulfilled, and happy.
